Molecular Biology

The Molecular Biology research group at Alfaisal University translates fundamental research into innovative product candidates, technologies, and services that deliver benefits to human health and well-being. The Molecular Biology research group has recently developed a rapid and portable platform for molecular diagnostics for human and veterinary infectious disease testing, which is expected to dominate the molecular diagnostic market in the foreseeable future. This is built on the researchers' expertise in manufacturing low-cost and high-quality reagents and kits for human molecular diagnostics.

Domains of interest include

  • Development of various rapid & portable molecular diagnostic assays, including PCR
  • Identification of cancer biomarkers
  • Targeted & untargeted proteomics & metabolomics
  • Recombinant proteins expression and purification, especially diagnostic enzymes
  • Formulation of life science buffers and reagents for diagnostic and research applications, including viral transport media and tissue culture media
  • Formulation of Oral Disintegrating Films (ODF)

Molecular Biology Services
